Results update as you type.
How to use
Enter letter grades and matching credit hours, separated by commas. The result is a credit-weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Formula
GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits) A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0 (standard 4.0 map)
Worked example
- Grades A,B with credits 3,3 → (4×3 + 3×3) ÷ 6 = 3.5.
Assumptions
- Uses a common unweighted 4.0 letter map. Plus/minus scales vary by school.
- Credits must be positive and pair one-to-one with grades.
FAQs
- Does this handle A- or B+?
- This build uses whole-letter points. If your school uses plus/minus, convert each course to its official point value first.
- Is this weighted by credits?
- Yes. A 4-credit A counts more than a 1-credit A.
- Can I mix pass/fail courses?
- Omit pass/fail courses that do not carry grade points, unless your school assigns points for them.
- What scale is used?
- A standard 4.0 map (A=4 … F=0). Confirm your institution's chart before relying on the number.
