Combine fuel, lodging, and food for a road-trip budget.

Results update as you type.

How to use

Enter distance, mpg, fuel price, hotel nights and rate, daily food, and trip days. The result totals fuel, lodging, food, and the grand total.

Formula

fuel cost = (distance ÷ mpg) × fuel price
lodging = nights × hotel
food = food per day × days
total = fuel + lodging + food

Worked example

  1. 600 mi at 30 mpg and $3/gal, 2 hotel nights at $100, food $50/day for 3 days → fuel $60 + lodging $200 + food $150 = $410.

Assumptions

  • Fuel economy is treated as constant.
  • Tolls, parking, and attractions are not included unless you fold them into food or another line mentally.
